Bottom Line Up Front: Many years of skiing and this is one of the finest places we have stayed in! OK, so some details. Firstly location and setting. Hotel Les Campanules is well located for relatively easy access to the main area of Tignes 2100, including ski hire, bars, restaurants and shops. It is not ski in / ski out, but let’s be realistic here, few places in Tignes 2100 are, unless you are seriously loaded! From the boot room, it’s a two minute walk via a relatively steep path to the main area with easy access to the Toviere bubble or Palafour lift (or ski down to the Chaudanne / Paquis lifts via the green ‘Centre’ piste). A previous review has commented on the state of this path. The hotel steps during our stay were clear of snow and ice (see attached photo), but the communal path wasn’t, (and it’s not the responsibility of the hotel to do so), but legions of skiers had kicked in steps that made it easily negotiable. Alternatively, you can access the main area by walking down the footpath alongside the road, takes a couple of minutes longer. The hotel itself is very nice indeed: well maintained, clean, warm; very comfortable and stylish. Reception is bright and spacious, a lift from there leads to all floors, and reception accesses the bar, dining room and lounge. The lounge is spacious, warm and well furnished, and offers a natural focal point at the end of a long day to relax, enjoy a drink and meet other guests. There is a small library of donated books, a chess set and games (Monopoly and Scrabble included). Daily newspapers were also available: French dailys and the New York Times. Our room was perfect for us. Spacious enough, with views over the lake to Val Claret and Grand Motte through large windows and a door to the balcony (with curtains and blinds to keep out the light from the town). Spotless on arrival, and with excellent cleaning services, remained so throughout. Comfortable bed, lots of storage space (vertical hanging and horizontal), television (which we didn’t really use), a desk and two chairs. Complementary drinking water was refreshed daily. The bathroom was also spotless with a combined bath / shower. Toiletries were provided, more than sufficient towels laid out and always enough hot water. We did use the spa, which was always staffed whenever we visited. The outside pool is small, but large enough to stretch out and exercise tired limbs. The steam and dry rooms were also very welcome. Other services are on offer, but we were happy to use those just described. The boot room is on the bottom floor, accessed via the lift and a short flight of stairs. Each room is allocated a locker (secured with the room key) and then a combination secured door outside to the path and onwards. The boot room was in good repair, and was certainly on a par to other boot rooms in our experiences. As we have our own boot heaters, I can’t comment on the serviceability of the locker’s boot heaters. We were on a
